About

Dr. Ilana Harms, DAIM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®, L.Ac.

Hello!

I’m Dr. Ilana Harms, a Nationally Board Certified, Licensed Acupuncturist in California. I practice Integrative Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine with a focus on helping people understand the patterns underlying their health, not just treating isolated symptoms.

Like many practitioners, I didn’t set out to become an acupuncturist.

I discovered East Asian Medicine after sustaining a neck injury while traveling for work. After conventional medicine offered few answers and little relief, I decided to explore acupuncture and within two treatments, the pain that had stopped me in my tracks for weeks had resolved.

That experience wasn’t remarkable because of a quick recovery, it was remarkable because it changed how I thought about healthcare. For the first time, I experienced a system of medicine that asked different questions. Rather than focusing only on the injury, it considered how I, an entire person, was functioning and what conditions allowed my body to heal.

The more I learned, the more I wanted to understand this approach. That curiosity eventually led me to pursue Graduate Medical Education in Acupuncture and Integrative East Asian Medicine.

Today, my practice reflects that same philosophy.

I believe health is rarely explained by a single diagnosis or one isolated symptom. The body is an interconnected system influenced by physiology, stress, movement, nutrition, relationships, environment, and lived experience. My role is to help identify the patterns that connect those pieces so we can create meaningful, sustainable change together.

And…our work doesn’t begin and end on the treatment table.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine are important pieces of the puzzle, but they’re only part of the picture. Depending on your goals, we may also discuss nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress regulation, mindfulness, lab findings, or other lifestyle factors that influence your health. I work collaboratively with my patients and, when appropriate, with other members of their healthcare team to provide coordinated, whole-person care.

Whether you’re seeking relief from a specific condition, navigating a complex health concern, or simply looking to feel more at home in your body, my goal is to offer care that is collaborative, evidence-informed, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect for your unique experience.

I look forward to supporting you.
