About

Dr. Ilana Harms, DAIM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®, L.Ac.

Hello!

My name is Dr. Ilana Harms and I’m a Nationally Board Certified, Licensed Acupuncturist in California.

I found Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine by chance after sustaining a neck injury while traveling for work. My MD offered minimal support and disappointing treatment options, which left me in pain and feeling defeated. After a few weeks of suffering with no relief, my partner recommended that I try working with an acupuncturist. Within 2 treatments, my neck pain – which had been severely limiting me for weeks – was resolved.

I went on to receive Acupuncture for a few years. At one point I realized that I wanted to know so much more about this medicine and help others the way I had been helped. So I did what any driven, type-A woman would do – I enrolled in grad school. My Graduate Medical Education program immersed me in a whole new world of Acupuncture & East Asian medical paradigms while also providing training in comprehensive Integrative care. This empowers me to treat my patients and collaborate with their larger health care teams to ensure that we all work toward the common goal of whole-person health.

My doctoral research explored the use of Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine to support pregnancy loss experiences. My Continuing Education areas of focus include: Classical Herbal Formulation for Internal Medicine, Comprehensive Pelvic Care for all bodies, and Somatic Based Trauma Care.
